Posted in News at 12:00 am by Scott

The Central Church of Christ in Johnson City, Tennessee, and the Abingdon Church of Christ in Abingdon, Virginia, organized a mission trip and sent several of their young people to help with contruction. The group worked for two days in 100-degree, high-humidity weather. When they were told that it was time to stop, the group kept right on working! Several tasks were accomplished:

  • Hurricane straps were attached to three sides of the building.
  • Logs required for gable construction were moved up to the floor of the building.
  • Interior load bearing girders (over 200 feet of 6-by-8 timber) were moved up to the floor of the building.
  • Interior 6-by-8 floor joists were moved next to the building from the yard (approximately 100 yards).
  • The interior load bearing walls were framed and erected.
  • The lot was cleared of a lot of overgrowth and debris, making the building more visible from the road.
  • The pump house was sided.
